Kiama Council has developed a draft Asset Disposal Policy to guide how we dispose of assets such as land, buildings, plant, machinery and equipment when they reach the end of their useful life.
This policy ensures:
- Transparent and fair processes
- Best possible return based on market value
- Compliance with sustainability and environmental practices
- Accurate asset records for financial reporting.
Council currently has no formal policy for asset disposal. Adoption of this policy will:
- Improve governance and compliance
- Ensure accurate valuation records for financial reporting
- Meet recommendations from the Audit Office of NSW.
Your input will help ensure the policy reflects community priorities and strengthens asset management practices.
