Kiama Council has developed an Asset Disposal Policy to guide how we dispose of assets such as land, buildings, plant, machinery and equipment when they reach the end of their useful life.
This policy ensures:
- Transparent and fair processes
- Best possible return based on market value
- Compliance with sustainability and environmental practices
- Accurate asset records for financial reporting.

How we got here
Public exhibition
Between 3 December 2025 and 21 January 2026, we invited feedback on the draft Asset Disposal Policy through our online platform.

What we heard
We received five submissions during the exhibition period. Four respondents were unsure about supporting the policy, and one did not support it.
The feedback raised concerns about:
- unclear policy wording
- a need for more clarity in planning and development controls
- the impact on heritage areas
- a lack of consistency across the policy.
