Kiama Council’s draft Compliance and Enforcement Policy assists Council staff to promptly, consistently and effectively respond to allegations of unlawful activity.
The draft policy will replace the Enforcement Policy (2011) and includes changes to NSW Government legislation as well as how reports of unlawful activity should be handled.
It provides clear parameters for Council officers to make sound decisions, have a consistent approach and exercise discretion when dealing with unlawful activities. This includes ensuring all relevant information (available evidence, community costs, individual circumstances, legislative requirements and case precedence) are considered.
