The draft policy applies to:

• Financial donations
• In‑kind or material donations
• Bequests
• Donations offered with no expectation of benefit or activity in return

All donations must be voluntarily given and motivated by philanthropy, and managed in a way that upholds high standards of probity and accountability.

Under the draft policy, Council will:

• Assess all donations consistently and ethically
• Maintain an Incoming Sponsorship and Donations Register
• Record key details such as the donor, purpose of the donation, type of benefit and its status
• Clearly document reasons if a donation is refused

Some information from the register may be made publicly available on request, in line with privacy and information access laws.
