Following the exhibition of five design options, Council has endorsed a modified design for the Jamberoo Dog Park, located on the corner of Churchill Street and Gibson Crescent.

While option five received the most support among the fenced designs, community feedback also showed a strong preference for an unfenced off‑leash space.

Council will proceed with:

  • a fenced small‑dog area
  • an unfenced off‑leash area for large dogs
  • consideration of natural aesthetic improvements, including opportunities to enhance vegetation and explore options with local volunteer groups.

This approach reflects community preferences while maintaining the natural character of the site.

How we got here

Public exhibition

Between 27 October and 27 November 2025, we invited you to review five design options and share your feedback. You could speak with staff at our community pop-ups or provide input online through the quick poll and submission form.

Read the Community Engagement Report for a detailed overview of what we heard during the consultation.

What we heard

  • Location matters: Many people feel the proposed sites are too central and would prefer the dog park near the tennis courts. Parking access is important, especially for big events.
  • Design needs work: People want the park to look natural and include shade, seating and features for dogs like logs and tunnels. Fences should blend in with the landscape.
  • Safety is a priority: Most people want separate areas for small and large dogs to reduce the risk of fights. Fence height should stop big dogs from jumping out.
  • Practical issues: The park needs good drainage, shade, water bubblers and enough space for big dogs to run.
