Between 1 and 7 August 2025 we invited you to participate in an online survey or speak with staff at our community pop-up, to help us better understand community views and willingness to contribute.

What we heard
The Kiama NYE Sky Show is important to many, but not all. Almost half of respondents (45.23%) said it is very important and they would be disappointed if it did not go ahead, with a further 21.99% saying it is somewhat important. Around a third (32.78%) do not usually attend and do not consider it important.
While some respondents were open to a small voluntary “honour system” ticket, the majority (60.17%) said they would be unlikely to contribute.
The most common preferred amount was $2–$5 (23.65%), with fewer choosing higher amounts. More than half (56.02%) said they would not contribute at all.
Many respondents stressed that the event should remain accessible for families and the wider community.
