Council is seeking community feedback on a proposal to enter into a lease with Gerringong Surf Life Saving Club Inc. for the use of the surf club building.
What’s proposed?
Council is proposing to lease the newly redeveloped surf club building at Lot 2 DP 1075959, Pacific Avenue, Werri Beach to Gerringong Surf Life Saving Club Inc. (GSLSC). The lease would allow the club to continue delivering surf lifesaving operations, education and emergency response.
Lease details
- Initial term: 10 years
- Option to renew: Additional 10 years (subject to Council approval)
What would the lease cover?
The proposed lease would support a wide range of activities, including:
- Surf lifesaving operations: patrol coordination, rescue training, equipment storage
- Emergency services: flood and bushfire coordination, community recovery centre
- Community group water safety training programs, School
education water safety programs, Water Safety Educational Forums
- Facility hire: access for seniors groups, yoga/pilates, trivia nights and more
- Club administration and member events
- Operation of a kiosk.

Why are we consulting?
Under Section 47A of the Local Government Act 1993, Council must consult with the community before leasing public land classified as Community Land. We want to ensure the lease reflects community expectations and supports inclusive, safe and accessible use of the site.
