Kiama Council is responsible for roads and drainage assets valued at more than $367 million.

An Asset Management Strategy and supporting plans guide how these assets are maintained. The goal is to manage them cost-effectively, now and into the future.

Each asset is assessed using detailed information including age, location, condition and value to support informed decisions.

The Roads and Stormwater Drainage Asset Management Plans have now been adopted. These plans set out how we will manage and maintain these essential assets for our community

How we got here

Public exhibition

Between 30 September and 28 October 2025, we invited community members to review and share feedback on the two Draft Asset Management Plans.

During this time, you could chat with our team at the community pop-up on Wednesday 1 October at Kiama Farmers' Market or share your ideas online. We appreciate everyone who took the time to contribute.

What we heard

Two submissions were received in relation to both roads and stormwater drainage. Key concerns included:

  • The impact of urban development on the environment, infrastructure capacity and associated flooding risks and property damage
  • Improvements to systems and processes for long-term financial planning and asset management
  • Strategies for performance measures, risk management and climate change.

The submission about flooding risks is outside the scope of this public exhibition and will be considered as part of the Spring Creek Flood Study.

No changes were made to the draft plans as a result of these submissions. The plans have now been adopted.
