Kiama Council has prepared an Asset Management Plan (AMP) for recreation, open space and other structures.
The plan outlines how Council will manage these assets over the next 10 years to ensure they are maintained in a strategic, transparent and efficient way.
The plan:
- Supports the sustainable delivery of services to the community
- Provides a 10‑year financial forecast for asset management
- Ensures compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements
- Identifies and manages risks associated with service delivery.

How we got here
Public exhibition
From 3 December 2025 - 21 January 2026, we invited feedback on the draft Asset Management Plan: Recreation, Open Space & Other Structures.

What we heard
We received one submission. The feedback raised concerns that rock climbing and access to cliffs, escarpments and boulders are not adequately recognised as recreational assets.
The submission noted that rock climbing is not clearly identified as a recreational activity and highlighted the need to consider access to cliffs and boulders, as well as shared supporting infrastructure such as parking and toilets. The repurposing of Bombo Quarry was identified as a key opportunity to support recreation and off‑peak tourism.
